Canoe Cedarloo is quickly approaching and you can play
a part in the oldest sanctioned canoe races in the state of Iowa!
REGISTRATION HAS BEEN EXTENDED!
You can still register to canoe up to the day of the event. But preregistration by June 6, is still required for canoe and kayak rentals.
This will be the 30th year that the Waterloo Jaycees have run the canoe race making it the oldest sanctioned race in the state of Iowa. The race is 7.5 miles along the Cedar River, starting at the Main Street Bridge in Cedar Falls and ending near the location of the former boat house in Waterloo. It is open to both racing and recreational canoeists and kayakers of all ages. Those under age 18 must have parental consent before they can compete.
Several people benefit from the canoe race each year. The participants get a chance to race down the cedar river with official times to use for entries for other official races across the Midwest. Others use this as a training for triathlons. Many come just to enjoy one of the great aspects of the Cedar Valley, the river that runs through it.
The Canoe Cedarloo is a community event that enhances life in the Cedar Valley and strives to bring the entire community together. The benefits of this event reach beyond that one Saturday afternoon in June. Any profits made at this event go towards our Gift of Giving event in December. Gift of Giving is an event Designed to take 90 at-risk children in the Cedar Valley shopping to purchase holiday/Christmas gifts for their family, we would like to invite you to be involved. With your help the race can continue to grow and bring people to Waterloo.
Thank you for taking the time in either sponsoring, participating, volunteering or watching this annual event.
