Welcome to the 75th Annual Waterloo Jaycee Greater Waterloo Open. The Waterloo Jaycees and the Waterloo Open Committee are committed to providing the community and all of the tournament participants, spectators, volunteers and sponsors a celebration and tournament that will not soon be forgotten. With this in mind we are planning enhancements specifically designed to commemorate this special occasion as well as making changes to take this event to the next level. Our focus on the professionalism of the tournament will continue as will our commitment to exceeding the already high standards regarding hospitality and value.
Our 5th Annual Don Narveson Youth Clinic will kick off this year’s event at South Hills Golf Course on Wednesday, July 16th. This program is offered to any child under the age of 18. The program includes golf instruction from several professionals playing in this year’s Open, including South Hills Golf Course Pro Monte Meyer. In addition, the Youth Clinic offers a free lunch, door prizes and a gift for attending. Please click on the link to the left for further information.
The Pro/Sponsor event begins on Thursday, July 17th at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course at Byrnes Park. It is a two-day event which consists of 70-80 teams. Each team will be comprised of one professional and four sponsors. Each player plays his or her own ball. The three low net scores on each hole are used to calculate the team score. The winning teams are awarded gift certificates to the Irv Warren Memorial Pro Shop and the professionals are awarded cash prizes. This is a great way to practice the course before play on Saturday.
The amateur tournament will again showcase all three of our local public golf courses. The amateur tournament starts on Friday, July 18th. All participants will play a qualifying round at Gates Park Golf Course and South Hills Golf Course. The low 40 and ties from combined scores at both courses will be asked to join their professional counterparts on Sunday at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course for the final round. Amateurs will be awarded gift certificates to the three local Pro Shops.
On Saturday morning, July 19th, 192 professional golfers from around the world will “tee it up” at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course, all aiming for the $30,000 first place check. The low 60 scores plus ties advance to Sunday’s final round.
