The Waterloo Open offers exciting opportunities for the amateur golfer. This year’s amateur opening rounds are being held at Gates Park Golf Course and South Hills Golf Course on Friday and Saturday, July 17th and 18th. Participants will play one day at each course. The championship round will be held on Sunday, July 19th at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course.
The amateur tournament has a capacity of 272 competitors. Entries will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. There is an Open Division and a Senior Division. A senior competitor may compete in both divisions if they desire. The format consists of 18 holes of medal play on both Friday and Saturday. Golfers who make the cut will advance to the Championship Round (see below) on Sunday. All remaining golfers will then be flighted Saturday night, with flight prizes awarded.
For a golfer to play in the Senior Amateur Division of the Open, he or she must have turned 50 on or before July 17, 2009 to qualify. |
Championship Round
The low 36+ ties from the Open Amateur Division and the low 4+ ties from the Senior Amateur Division qualify for the championship round to be played with the Professionals on Sunday at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course. Those who make the cut automatically receive a gift certificate prize, and additional prizes are awarded based on final results after Sunday's championship round.
Please note: all participants in the championship round are required to wear long pants. |
